Many applicants have an up-to-date LinkedIn profile but no fresh CV. Shame, because LinkedIn already contains your entire work history - just in the wrong format. Recruiters want a PDF they can archive, forward and run through HR software. Below the 5 steps to convert your LinkedIn data into a professional CV in 5 minutes.

1. Export your LinkedIn profile as PDF

Open your LinkedIn profile (in browser, not the app). Click 'More' under your profile picture → 'Save profile as PDF'. LinkedIn automatically creates a PDF with all your profile info, work experience, education and skills. Save this file - this is your starting point.

2. Upload the PDF into our CV builder

Go to cvontwerper.nl/upload. Drag the LinkedIn PDF into the upload field or click to choose. Our parser specifically recognizes the LinkedIn format: name, contact details, headline, profile summary, work experience (per role: title, company, period, description), education, skills, certifications and languages. Processed in 5-15 seconds.

3. Check the imported data

No parser is 100%. LinkedIn sections that sometimes import wrong: published articles (skip them - not relevant), recommendations (skip these - testimonials don't belong on a CV), and projects you added separately. Walk through every section, especially work experience bullets - those contain your most important claims.

4. Pick a template that fits your sector

LinkedIn profiles are often extensive - sometimes 3 jobs from over 10 years ago. For your CV: trim. Max 2 pages, focus on the last 10-15 years. Template choice: 'ATS Pro' for general use, 'Executive Pro' for management roles, 'Modern' for tech and creative, 'Nordic' if you want clean minimalism.

5. Personalize and download

LinkedIn bullets are often in second person or without numbers ('Responsible for sales'). Replace with CV-style: action verb + number ('Achieved 112% of €2.1M quota'). Our AI bullet generator helps: paste the weak bullet, get 3 strong variants. Then: download your PDF for €2 - including free cover letter generator for 1 hour.

Done within 10 minutes today

LinkedIn export → upload → quick fix → download. Realistic: 10 minutes for an applicant with a good LinkedIn profile, 20-30 minutes if you still need to strengthen bullets. Much faster than starting from scratch, and you keep LinkedIn as single source of truth for your work history.
